Red Door Home Staging and Design

About Us...

About Jennifer Sarff

As a child, Jennifer remembers being in awe of her grandmother's passion for home interiors.  She credits both her interest and talent in design to this amazing woman whom she misses every day, Theresa "Mimi" Kerr.

After growing up in Danville, PA, Jennifer graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in advertising and minors in Spanish and international relations.  During college, she studied abroad in Manchester, England, which was when her love of travel was born.

After college, she worked in marketing and sales and ultimately began a successful career as a PA Licensed REALTOR®, a license that remains active today. While juggling her real estate career and a busy family life, Jennifer became certified as an interior decorator. Her loves of interior design and real estate are perfectly blended in Red Door Staging and Design.  She might not be a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet Company, but her other childhood dream has definitely come true!

She lives happily in Camp Hill with her husband, Mike, and her three children.

Red Door Staging and Design...What's in a Name?

So we hear...

In Feng Shui, a red door symbolizes the mouth of the home. By painting a door red (or any bright color that stands out) chi (positive energy) is drawn to the house. It is the entry point in which abundance and opportunities find us.

The Chinese consider red to be the lucky or sacred color. Many doors are painted with a fresh coat of red just before Chinese New Year to invite good luck and happiness.

In Ireland, a red door is supposed to ward off ghosts and evil spirits.

Door of ChurchIn Catholicism, a red door represents that the blood of Christ has been smeared on it and that the area beyond the door is holy and sacred.

Also, according to the Old Testament, the Jewish slaves in Egypt smeared their doors with lambs blood as a sign that the required sacrifice had already been made, and those homes would be passed over by the angel of vengeance.

Supposedly red doors were used as part of the Underground Railroad, and homes with red doors were "safe houses".

Albert Einstein painted his door red because he couldn't recognize his house without it.

For homeowners, a red door announces that the house is paid for - free and clear.

When we hear "Red Door" we instantly think, "Welcome."  We hope you will, too!
